Int. Jacks bedroom - night
Inside a suburban house, JACK a teenager sits on the floor of his messy bedroom shuffling through songs on his IPOD.
He shuffles through songs playing "Marijuana" - Chrome Sparks, "Mans not hot" - Big Shaq, "We Fear Dem" - Vybz Kartel & Popcaan

Jack presses his floor button music from his IPOD still plays mixing with "Elevator music"
The elevator doors open and two STUDENTS climb in. The elevator continues down.
"Elevator music" continues to play as Jack turns up IPOD volume. Miffed as it continues to do nothing.
Two students continue chatting. They notice Jack.
Student 1
You okay, man?
Jack
(Music still playing)
Yeah yeah.
The elevator reaches the ground floor, two students exit.
Jack follows them.
"Elevator music" continues to play as Jack walks down the Corridor.
INT. Classroom - day
A small class is in session. Jack sits at the back of the room doodlying as "Elevator music" continues to play. However now he isn't wearing headphones.
INT. CAFETERIA - LUNCHTIME
Jack sits with friends,TONY,JACKIE,TOM in a busy lunch hall. They are intently listening to Tony's story, however Jack appears preoccupied.

..and he ended up headbutting the dude!
Everyone laughs, Jack fake laughs.
Jackie
Hey you okay Jack?
Jack
("Elevator music" faintly plays)
Yeah... you ever had a song stuck in your head?
MURMURED AGREEMENT
Tom
Yeah, all the time man.
JACK
Yeah but ever where you just can't stop it. You can't get it out.
All the friends look at each other.
Beat.
TOM
Nah not really, man.
Int. Corridor - DAY
Jack walks down the corridor as "Elevator music" continues to play.
EXT. STREET - DAY
Slowly becoming more and more agitated.
Jack
(murmuring to himself)
It's gotta stop man, it's gotta stop.
INT. JACKS BEDROOM - NIGHT
""Elevator music" continues to play as Jack tosses and turns in his bed.

INT. JACKS BEDROOM - DAY
Jack wakes with a purpose. Eats his breakfast and strides into school.
Int. ELEVATOR - DAY
Jack presses the buttons aggressively. One of the same students from the day before enter, however a different student also enters. Jack paces around the elevator
Jack
(insane mumbling)
No..no it must be the same. No..no..
(louder)
Wh..wh..where is your friend?!
Jack advances towards the students.
Student 1
Bro chill out.
Student 1 backs away.
STUDENT 1
Yo man stay back.
Jack
(same time)
WHERE IS YOUR FRIEND! IT MUST BE THE SAME!
The Elevator stops and the two students run out."Elevator music" continues to play. The audience do not know whether from elevator speakers or inside his head.
Jack
Please dear God.
Jack steps out of the elevator.
Jump cut montage of Jack in different clothes going into elevator. Each time looking more and more tired and annoyed. The Elevator music progressively gets louder.
InT. JACKS BEDROOM - NIGHT
Jack attaches a noose to his ceiling as hundreds of delayed "Elevator music" play. He climbs onto the chair.
FaDE TO BLACK.

CRACK
Beat.
GROAN
INT. School - DAY
The audience is taken through the corridor before revealing Jack walking down the stairs with a medical brace and a smile on his face.
Cut TO BLACK.
I like the idea, I'm pleased that the end is comic rather than sinister. I feel there needs to be more build up of irritation to do with the music - I think we talked about adding in a montage? If this is going to be the screenplay that you hand in, it needs to be in the correct format, all the way through.
ReplyDeleteThis is a copy and paste of a pdf where the format is correct. I've added a montage during the elevator exit scene. I agree I'll have to think of a way showing the internal conflict externally.
